(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt rejected on Sunday calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri as ‘silly’.

Jumblatt was responding to the call made one day earlier by the member of Hariri’s parliamentary bloc MP Nuhaq Mashnouq who urged the Prime Minister to resign and refuse to form a new government without reaching an agreement on major issues.

"We want him to remain Prime Minister of entire Lebanon to address the problems of the country as a whole, like false witnesses and others," Jumblatt said during a tour of the mountains.

He said the false witnesses file is a "political-judicial issue that could be dealt with by judicial authorities and politically with Syrian President Bashar Assad if there were good intentions."

Jumblatt said the Special Tribunal for Lebanon should look into other evidence, referring to the evidence broadcasted by Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah showing an Israeli potential role in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri.
